Your video pitch is the first impression potential employers will have of you. You have 60 seconds of video time to make an impression, so be prepared to impress.
- Prepare your script – take your time and write out a great script. Video time is precious real-estate so make sure you have all the important sections covered
- Prepare your setting – be aware of what will be in around you when you are recording. Make sure that your backdrop is as plain and uncluttered as possible so that there are no distractions for employers. Take a minute to also listen to the ambient sounds around you where you will be recording your pitch. It should be quiet without any noise
- Make sure that the people around you are aware that you will be recording yourself. You don’t want someone walking past your frame or interrupting you while you are recording
- Look the part – dress and groom yourself as if you are going to face-to face interview
Remember that you should be the star of the show not the clutter in the background with the TV blaring away.
